Technology and Education in Collaboration

The twentieth generations are the luckiest who already enjoyed all of the simplicity. There is no fog if there is no fire. All of those simplicity comes from the phenomenal invention, technology. As well as we know, technology has generated many kinds of machine we used today. Those variants of technology ease all aspects of life such as communication, economic, education and so on. Besides making things easier, they caused side effect. If we talk about education, we will find that technology affect it much. The three of technology are Hand phone, Computer and internet.

Reference vs Copy-paste

            All of the proposal, thesis, essay, article and many written form that students are asked to do, the reference we need is on our hand. The students are allowed to take quotes or statement from expert freely as their references. All they need is computer and the magic ‘copy-paste’. Nowadays we can’t differentiate whether they actually learn from the source or they just copy-paste it then leave. We as the teacher insist to control and limit their source. Make sure they stick the material around their head by conducting question and answer.

Information vs Cheating

            When we need the information, at that time we can access it from many source freely. we can expand what the textbook says and compare it with the information on the internet. That will be a fun activity. We can gain their critical of thinking. However, be careful! In your classroom, there will be few students who are not focus to the lesson, but more focus to their gadget and start searching out of the material. After we get enough information for the lesson. We can ask them keep their phone inside their bag.

Communities vs Bully

            Our relationships and communities always relate to communication. What do we need? A phone or Personal computer with the internet connection. We can start chatting and sharing photos, videos, venues and so on. Recently, the students have many accounts of social media like Facebook, Path, Line, WhatsApp and so on. On the contrary, the news or updated information spread rapidly in second. The respond of this information will generate the positive or negative acts. The negative acts can be bullying someone who known as the wrong side. We can take the problem as the hot topic and discuss it in the class and find the positive solution. As the result, we can guide them with some moral value indirectly.

Adore vs Plagiarism

            Everyone has their idols. Even though they are singers, actors, writers, inventor and so on. Related to the technology, everything can be imitated. The replica things can be made easily. Plagiarism is everywhere. That’s why copyright of patents invention to save the inventor from plagiarism. We can teach the students to keep the source they get the information by mention the link or the detail of the books in bibliography.

            To sum up, everything in the world have their positive and negative side; those are inseparable. The well-known invention, technology, is helpful in daily life, but caused some bad effects oppose its advantages. The positive effects are the simplicity finding references, quick information, making relationship, and adore someone. On the other hand, the negative effects are copy-pasting, cheating, bullying and plagiarism culture. Let’s be wise to control and limit the use of internet, hand phone and computer.
